Ravensfire
For years, several of our former students played Irish folk
music. They were well known throughout Bluff County as the Irish
Minstrels.Still, time marches on and we
were so very pleased to see them opening with a new group recently in Rochester,
Minnesota. The groups’ new name is Ravensfire. They warmed up St. Joe’s coffee
shop before a packed audience last weekend. On the right, in the picture, are
Melissa and Larry Schmidt.Cheering them

fun it was on a chilly Bluff Country night!
I am a not so recently retired social studies teacher and basketball coach. Still hunting birds though now with a camera instead of a gun.
Nature devotee, dog lover, birder, gardener and semi-retired all around outdoor adventure seeker.
Troutbirder II is my alter ego. He loves books and history and is an opponent of unnecessary, unplanned and unending "preemptive wars". A former moderate Republican, he spent the Bush II years gradually converting to "yellow dog" Democrat. He is now somewhat unhappy with the Democrats abandonment of unions and cozying up to Wall Street. This is promoting a gradual drift towards Democratic Socialism though he remains "flexible...

I wish I could have been there! It sounds like a good time.
I love folk music. That coffee house brings back fond memories of the nights I spent listening to good folk music in the 60's and 70's.
Sounds like a great nostalgic time!
There's a fair bit of Celtic music and fiddling hanging on in this region.
Great way to spend an evening, looks nice. There is something so special about real LIVE art.
