The Three R's

The three R's. Rommney, Ryan & Rand.
There's something seriously disturbing about millions of tea partyiers who froth at the mouth at the idea of providing health care to the tens of millions of Americans who don't have it. Or who take
pleasure at the thought of privatizing and slashing bedrock social programs like Social Security or Medicare. As our country quickly drifts into an increasing divided society with the middle class being squeezed out of existence it is the right-wing moneyed elites who more and more openly
share their distaste for the working poor. Where do they find their
philosophical justification for this kind of attitude?
It turns out, you can trace much of this thinking back to
Ayn Rand, a popular cult-philosopher who exerts a huge influence over much of the right-wing and libertarian crowd.

So many of the Tea Partiers are lower income and buy into this ideaology against their own best interests. Someone is very good at manipulation.

Who would have dreamed that the ugly concept of social-darwinism would appeal to so many people? Heaven help us!

Dwight Eisenhower said "Should any political party attempt to abolish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things, but their number is negligible and they are stupid." I am a life long Democrat, but I do go back some years and remember some Republicans that I didn't think were thugs.

I suppose that if I were among the uber-rich I might take a liking to Ayn Rand's philosophy but I surely hope not!

I actually liked Ayn Rand's books when I read them in college, but I wasn't thinking about what would happen if her ideas ruled our society. Thank goodness I grew up to a more mature way of looking at the world. Ayn Rand and her Republican disciples truly terrify me.

I shake my head. I think it's the only-two-party system that creates such division down there.
