Baron

Having just returned from our trip to Ireland I went to the local vets office to pick up my big puppy Baron. They have boarding facilities there which always seemed to be a good worry free combination. It proved to be so in this case as I learned the big guy had required a tooth extraction while we were gone.

It seems the bad doggie breath I had noticed before leaving had been caused by an abscessed canine tooth. I had requested a tooth cleaning when I brought him in and the problem was discovered then, as he was also not eating and had lost ten pounds since a previous visit.
He is eating fine now, getting antibiotics and seems as chipper as ever. Looking up the function of the upper canine tooth I found it is used to capture and hold prey. Since Baron is fed regularly here at home, I don't believe the loss serious. Well, on second thought, it may reduce the rate of his squirrel captures, but he'll just have to tough it out.

Poor pup with a sore tooth! It's so hard when our four-legged friends can't tell us they aren't feeling well. I'm glad Baron is doing good!

Happy Friday Friend!

Well both the dog and your pocket book can be glad that they just extracted it. I had an abscess for the last year which resulted in a super cleaning, a repeat root canal, a dental surgery, and then, "we can't save the tooth" extraction. Makes me wonder if this is really that difficult to diagnose.

Baron is a beauty - toothless or not. Tell him to be sure to not smile when getting his picture taken and he will be fine.

Poor Baron. I'm sure he's feeling much better now that the abcess is cleared up.

Poor boy. At least the vet's office figured it out before too much infection set in. If he catches a few less squirrels, the squirrel families will be happier...

Glad to hear that Baron's okay and on the mend. What a handsome guy!

Poor puppy! I'm glad he's doing better though.

I need to take my own Shepherd Boy in for a tooth cleaning. It's an experience I don't think anyone is going to enjoy.

The squirrels thank you. Seriously though, I'm glad they found the absecessed tooth. He's a handsome guy with our without the canine tooth.
