Starting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe said...

I never thought my great country would be where it is today. Lady Liberty weeps and so do I.

I can only second the unhappy emotions of the day.

So sad. I saw far-away fireworks from our back yard and thought about how people love spectacles. Meanwhile the geese were flying back and and forth over the lake in panic, but few people care about the birds and frightened dogs and suffering veterans because they must have spectacles. Four nights of fireworks in my area, with different communities having displays on different nights.

I've been seeing messages of concern on social media, especially for dogs that run away and vets with PTSD. That's encouraging, but for the most part people are as hard-hearted as our Roman ancestors who enjoyed seeing people and animals slaughtered in the Colosseum.

And we are seeing how powerful people are immune to the suffering of the poor, the hungry, and those yearning to be free.

Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, I went on my blog's dashboard and noticed a number of comments that required moderation. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Like you, I am deeply concerned with the direction our country is taking. If Lady Liberty were a real person she would most certainly be weeping.
